Hey Guys.

Firstly, can anyone please post updates about the Lockout in the NHL on here please, we don't get much NHL news from here (Australia) and secondly what's the latest with the Officials on strike in the NFL? who on earth replaces them to officiate in the past NFL games?

With regards to the NHL, there's still not really all that much to post about the lockout other than to say talks are still ongoing. Suffice it to say, one way or another, the season, if it even begins at all, will be a little late.
As for the NFL officials lockout, that actually ended last...er, Friday, I believe it was. Both sides seemed to have reached a tentative agreement.

Too much money and greed in sport, particularly in the US. The NHL strikes are just one result of the problem.

This completely contrasts with much of what we got (apart from the basketball and to a leser extent the soccer) in the Olympics.

To update you for the NHL lockout: the NHL has canceled 82 games already while talks continue to be on-going. I'm guessing that those 82 games are both pre-season and regular-season games. No deals and/or compromises appear to be on the horizon as of yet!
